An empty room means paying two rents.

It took me 4–5 weeks to find a replacement, and whoever I found still had to pass the landlord and the housemates.

Every match comes with a receipt.

Five factors, each scored and explained. See exactly why a room ranked where it did, not just a number.

Listing a room? Anyone who messages you has already been scored against it.

Example: set a $1,500 budget in SoMa, tidiness and social level 3 of 5, and night-owl hours, then Find my fit. Three rooms come back ranked: SoMa private room, $1,000/mo · SoMa, fit 89; Sunny room in a Mission flat, $1,200/mo · Mission, fit 76; Quiet Sunset room, $900/mo · Sunset, fit 56; and the top one opens into its receipt:

  • Budget fit 20/20: $1,000, comfortably under, $500 a month left over
  • Location 20/20: Same area, SoMa
  • Cleanliness 15/20: Off by 1 (room 4/5 vs your 3/5)
  • Social level 20/20: Matches (3/5)
  • Sleep schedule 14/20: Flexible schedule, compatible

Why I'm building roomfit · 90 sec
A note from Ni Ni

Why I'm building this

When I moved to San Francisco, I had no network and no rental history here. I tried Craigslist and nearly got scammed. Facebook groups were the best option, and every listing was a stranger I had to guess about.

Later, as the one listing a room, it took 4–5 weeks to find someone. So I'm building the tool I kept wishing existed.
